The California Arts Council is comprised of eleven members who work to create public awareness of how art can add to communities and encourage participation of the involvement of art in the communities.  They also aim to further develop the position of arts in the state.  The Council places a large emphasis on the importance of art in education and uses over 50 percent of their money on ensuring the arts are used for education. They support local organizations that help bring art into the local communities.
