The Florida Division of Cultural Affairs was established in 1963 to help the development of arts in Florida. Their mission involves four key responsibilities: to foster development and growth of arts activities, to provide arts resources and services, to award excellence and to promote arts-related public/private partnerships. The unifying element that runs among all of the Division's programming is the belief that the arts can help change the world for the better and it starts with one person in one community at a time. Through the many services offered, the Division impacts all of Florida’s 67 counties by supporting over 25,000 cultural events.
