The Virginia Commission for the Arts was created in 1968 to encourage advancement in the arts and make art accessible to everyone.  They provide financial support as well as information and services to artists and organizations in Virginia.   The Commission feels that art is important to the economy and the quality of life in Virginia. They work to make sure that art is accessible to everyone and encourage the growth of art throughout the state by providing assistance to individuals and helping the development of art organizations and art in education.
