COMPANY OR INDIVIDUAL DESCRIPTION/BIO:
Established in 1961, the Washington State Arts Commission (WSAC) collaborates with artists and arts organizations to conserve and develop critical artistic resources. WSAC strives to further policies that promote statewide arts awareness, develop sustainable arts resources for future generations, and deepen investments in Washington's dynamic cultural legacy.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
The WSAC offers numerous programs and services. A few examples are:
- Art in Public Places - facilitates the acquisition, placement, and stewardship of artwork in state-funded building projects throughout Washington State.
- Arts in Education - using strategies that support Washington’s Essential Academic Learning Requirements in the arts, as well as cultivating community partnerships and championing proven arts education practices in order to bring arts education to every K-12 student in the state.
- Folk Arts - helps to preserve, present, and protect the traditional arts of Washington’s many diverse cultures. It aims to document, identify, honor and perpetuate these traditions by encouraging public awareness and appreciation of folk arts.
- Community Arts Development - provides information and arts management opportunities to arts organizations and artists in order to help them effectively bring their work to the public. This program offers management information, training, consultations and resources in partnership with local, regional, state, and national organizations.
- For Arts Organizations - offer grants for arts education, folk arts, projects, arts participation and operational support.
